Newest Resource from Garlock Ministries…
The Spiritual Warrior’s Prayer Guide, the improved and revised edition of a title Quin and I wrote in 1992, recently was released by Regal Books. The book covers 28 important prayer topics such as strategies for battle, material provision, praying for your marriage, overcoming depression, praying for your children, praying for healing, etc. Each chapter includes a brief commentary and relevant Scriptures to pray as you wield the Sword of the Spirit in fighting your spiritual battles. Dr. Mark Rutland, President of Oral Roberts University, wrote: “Everybody at one point or another in their lives needs a breakthrough. A crisis is not the time to be searching the house for a key. Sherrer and Garlock show us how to be prepared before we need it.” You will find this book to be a valuable resource for use in personal or group prayer, and as a training tool for prayer teams. A CHAMPION GOES HOME Just before midnight on March 25, Mrs. Freda Lindsay, co-founder of Christ for the Nations, passed over to her heavenly reward at age 95. I had the privilege of visiting the campus and addressing the entire student body a few days later, and attending her memorial service on April 1. Resurrection Day in Heaven must have been amazing this year…maybe John was near the gate blowing his trumpet to welcome her home! Here is an excerpt from the tribute I wrote for her website (www.cfni.org): When John and I met Freda Lindsay in 1973, shortly after Gordon's death, she opened a great door of opportunity to us, as John became director of the Institute and I worked for her in the editorial department. Although we had already served on the mission field, our 23 years at Christ For The Nations greatly expanded our vision and led to more doors of ministry opening in many parts of the world we never expected to see. She assigned me to write my first book in 1974, which led to my writing many other books in later years. Her tenacity and singleness of purpose have challenged me to follow her example. As a result of her labors on earth, Freda Lindsay will meet many in Heaven who will be there because of her faithfulness. HAITI UPDATE The CHO School in Haiti has reopened with 100 children attending--about half of the pre-earthquake enrollment. Nine of ten teachers are back. We expect more students and the one missing teacher to return in the coming weeks as word spreads that school is open. Because of damage to the school building, some classes are meeting in the church and others outside under the eaves. Our resourceful Haitian staff members are finding ways to overcome obstacles and establish as regular a routine for the children as they possibly can. Rainy season has now begun, so the younger children are sleeping on mattresses on the floor of the orphanage dining room near the main door. The older kids sleep on the floor of the church. They still are fearful of sleeping in their regular quarters because aftershocks continue to shake the ground every day or so. Plans are under way for a new generator to be installed and a new latrine facility built—hopefully this month. This will allow the compound to operate more efficiently as we move forward with repair and rebuilding plans. MINISTRY TO MONGOLIA After two years of liaison work by a former student (who now serves there as a missionary), the Mongolian translation of John’s book, Keys to Better Preaching, at last is printed! Recently I received this email from a young leader who had attended our training sessions in 1993-94: “Thanks, thanks, thanks for your ministry in Mongolia--Brother John Garlock and you did for Mongolian Christian people big things!” How grateful I am that due to your prayers and support, John is once again ministering to the future leaders of this distant nation. Next: French and Nepali are translation ventures planned for this year. Contribute to this project.> Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
